Policy debate cards

A policy debate card is a quoted piece of evidence with a tag and a citation. Card it searches 10 years of policy, PF and LD cards, 5 million and counting, so you can find a card by the argument it supports.

How it works

  1. Start from the argument. Decide what you need: a link, an impact, a piece of defense, a solvency card or a specific author.
  2. Search in plain language. Describe the argument in Card it and pick Policy, plus the season you want.
  3. Read the tag and cite. Every result shows the card’s tag and citation, so you can tell quickly whether the text supports the claim.
  4. Check the source. Open the original article or study and read the card in context before you read it in a round.
  5. Copy it into your file. Copy keeps the tag, cite and highlighting, so the card pastes straight into your speech doc.

What a policy debate card is

Policy debate runs on evidence. Each card has a tag that states the claim, a citation with the author, qualifications, date and source, and the quoted text with the key lines highlighted. Teams read cards to support plans, disadvantages, counterplans, kritiks and topicality arguments.

Where policy cards come from

Most circuit teams disclose the cards they read on the debate wiki, which is why finished policy evidence is easy to reuse. Card it searches the cards inside those disclosed files, so you do not need to know which team cut a card to find it.

Card it is independent and is not affiliated with openCaselist or any league.

Searching past seasons is free with an account. This season’s cards are part of Debate it Premium and Debate it All. For the 2026-27 national health insurance topic, start with the policy topic guide, then search Card it for the arguments you plan to read.

Responses, not just cards

Block it holds curated responses to arguments on current topics, including high school and college policy, so you can find an answer as well as a card.
