Online debate flowing app and digital flow tool
Flow it is an online flowing app for debate rounds: a digital flow with live partner collaboration, SpeechDrop integration and a round doc that updates as you flow, for PF, LD and policy.
How it works
- Start from a preflow. Open Flow it and load a saved preflow, a previous round or an uploaded case.
- Connect the docs. Join a SpeechDrop room so your opponents’ speech docs open in the doc viewer, and auto-flow their tags.
- Flow the speeches. Type arguments as they are made and keep responses lined up with what they answer.
- Collaborate live. Share the flow with a partner so you can split the work and check each other.
- Answer from your blocks. Pull responses from your uploaded blockfiles onto the flow; your round doc updates and goes to SpeechDrop.
Why flow digitally
- Typing is fast, legible and searchable.
- A shared flow means partners never argue about what was said.
- Your flow lives with your prep instead of in a stack of paper.
Online flow vs paper vs spreadsheet
- Paper: simple and allowed everywhere, but hard to read later, hard to share and easy to lose.
- Excel or Google Sheets: legible and shareable, but the flow is only text and is not connected to your speech doc or blocks.
- A debate flowing app like Flow it: columns by speech, live collaboration, and a flow connected to SpeechDrop, your round doc, your blockfiles and Card it search.
What Flow it does
- Preflow: prepare the flow before the round from a saved preflow, a previous round or an uploaded case.
- SpeechDrop and doc viewer: open shared speech docs, auto-flow tags and rehighlight cards.
- Commands: upload blockfiles and backfiles and use their headers and responses as commands.
- Round doc: your send doc updates as you flow and goes straight to SpeechDrop.
- Speech roadmap and backhalf doc: order what you will read, and write backlines in the doc or the flow.
- Card it search: find a card and insert it into the selected flow cell.

Frequently asked questions
What is a flow in debate?
A flow is the running record of every argument and response in a round, kept in columns by speech so you can see what has been answered.
Can I flow with my partner online?
Yes. Flow it supports live collaboration.
Does it work for Public Forum, LD and policy?
Flow it is built for competitive debate, and you can lay out your flow the way your event needs.
Are there guides for Flow it?
Yes, see the Flow it guides page and the Flow it video tutorials.
What is the best tool for flowing debate online?
Pick a flowing tool that lays out columns by speech, lets your partner work on the same flow and connects to the speech doc. Flow it does all three, with SpeechDrop and preflows built in.
Can I flow in Excel or Google Sheets instead?
You can, and many debaters start that way. A spreadsheet flow is only text, though; Flow it connects the flow to your speech doc, round doc and blocks.
